According to Spotify, my most played track this year has been George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord”.
It seems as if I’ve spent the year reaching for some higher power. Then again, one of the most beautiful memories of the year, for me, is linked to this song.
2014 was the worst, most tumultuous year of my life so far. It was also a loving year full of possibilities, in which things clicked into place. Sorrow, uncertainty, anxiety, and exhaustion were my default emotions in 2014; at the same time, there was a sense of peace, freedom, love, and trust. A year of paradoxes.
I know: you’ve gone through these things as well. Isn’t it comforting to know that we’ve all shared the experience?
The sun is finally shining on this year, but I think in 2015, it will blind us with its brilliance.
Oh my Lord, 2015, welcome! I pray you will gather us all in your loving embrace.
