If you somehow missed it before, I’m sure the list of the year’s best cosmetics will have clued you in to my love for Neal’s Yard Remedies and their world-renowned cult product the Wild Rose Beauty Balm.

It is my pleasure to inform you that the Wild Rose range includes other products besides the Beauty Balm, including this newcomer: Wild Rose Beauty Elixir.

Can I just take this moment to rename the Wild Rose Beauty products? I feel Wild Rose Miracle would be better – and more accurate, considering the results.

If you didn’t care for the balm, I can promise you that you will love the rose elixir. It is suited for all skin types; worn as a serum under moisturizer if you have dry skin, or as is if you’ve got oily skin. You could also apply a purifying serum underneath, or wear it in the evenings as a serum under the balm, or – as I have done – with a layer of rose-hip oil on top. The consistency of the elixir is wonderfully silky, a bit oily and rich, but as light as any serum.

If any of you have acne scars, this is the healing potion you want. It will also smooth out and provide glow to dull, wrinkled, cold-worn skin.

The Wild Rose Beauty Elixir contains collagen boosting plamitoyl tripeptide, rose-hip oil with repairing and moisturizing fatty acids, and beta-carotene. Other ingredients include lycopene, which fights ageing and free-radical damage; turmeric extract to brighten and even out the complexion; hyaluronic acid to smooth out wrinkles and bind moisture; as well as vitamin C to brighten the skin and improve collagen and elastin synthesis. The amount of organically grown ingredients in the product is a staggering 82 percent.

The reason I love rose-hip oil is the lovely glow and color that the beta-carotene in it gives to the skin. The oil can be used in top of a serum in the evenings, mixed with a bit of moisturizer for extra nourishment, or used in homemade oil tinctures. It can also be worn under makeup in the winter. I like to wear it with my Kjaer Weis foundation, which is a bit dry and stiff otherwise. As mentioned above, rose-hip oil is also ideal for smoothing out scarring and discoloration.

There is also a heavenly body product in this range, but I’ll tell you about that later.
