Makeup guru and fellow blogger Sarvas’s lip care post last night reminded me of a very important tip with I had yet to share with you. This little jar is such an obvious go-to product for me that I was under the impression I had sung its praises ad nauseam.

The product in question is Le Baume* by French brand Absolution, and it is the best lip balm in the world. Ever. A bit like Kjaer’s mascara. It is beyond compare. The jar was given a makeover last summer; the previously white cloaked pot was painted black, and the size went from 4.7 to 7 grams, while the price stayed the same. There are two different versions of the new package: this tribal themed one, and one with text on it*.

This little balm is almost magical. One coat in the morning and one in the evening got me through last winter’s arctic temperatures. No chapping, no lip balm addiction, no cracks in the corners of my mouth. The balm is also good for dry and cracked cuticles, or even elbows!

The balm contains beeswax, sesame seed oil and jojoba oil, as well as shea butter, macadamia nut oil, carnauba wax, squalene, and resin oil. These wonderful oils and waxes soften and nourish the skin, and are therefore excellent ingredients for a lip balm. Beeswax prevents moisture from evaporatin. Marula oil, perilla oil, argan oil, orange oil, lemon oil, coriander seed oil, ginger oil, geranium oil, clove oil, and marigold and barley extract provide repairing, moisturizing, calming and healing benefits, while also containing a generous helping of antioxidants. All ingredients are natural, and 80% are organically grown.

Some people keep a lip balm in every pocket and on every table corner; this little balm, applied twice a day, lasts me for just about a year. What a lovely product! (Makes your lips super kissable, to boot.)
