Emerald Smoky Eyes

I finally got around to combining RMS’s turquoise cream shadow in Inspire (a gift from Karoliina at Liinun Organic Beauty) with Kjaer Weis’ emerald green shadow in Green Depth; this dark eye makeup is just within my comfort zone, and it’s about as dramatic a look as I’ll ever wear – by my own hand, in any case.

When it comes to dark eye makeup, I prefer a dark emerald to the more traditional dark grey. As I’d suspected, RMS’s Inspire and Kjaer’s Green Depth are a perfect combination: the cream shadow absorbs the powder one, making the colors appear deeper, while minimizing fallout and making the makeup itself last longer. I know what I’ll be wearing the next time smoky eyes are called for – today my only witness was the man who came to fix my bathroom faucet.

While heaping on eye shadow, I found a black kajal pencil from Benecos hiding in my makeup bag. I tried it on my waterline and was blow away. I’ve been looking for a natural black pencil liner that would actually stay on the waterline, you see, and all this time it had been staring me right in the face! This pencil definitely deserves its own post in the Cheap & Chic category. What a great discovery to make in my own makeup bag – especially when I have no recollection of how I came by it in the first place.

I blended Green Depth into the light Cloud Nine, also by Kjaer, sweeping it on the brow bone as well. The shadow is just matte enough to be used as a highlighter, as you can see – I hate shimmery brow bones. To line my upper and lower lash line, I used Kjaer’s Divine – a perfect grey tone, which is neither too cold nor too dark.

The foundation is Just Sheer by Kjaer, and on my cheeks I am wearing my all-time favorite, Embrace, with just a hint of Sun Touched. I swept Radiance Highlighter along my cheekbones and my cupids bow, and my lips were daubed with Sweetness.

Products used: foundation: Kjaer Weis Just Sheer; concealer: Suki Correct Coverage Buttercream; loose powder: Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Powder; eye shadows: RMS Beauty Eye Polish Inspire, Kjaer Weis Green Depth, Divine and Cloud Nine; eyeliner: Benecos black kajal; mascara: Kjaer Weis Mascara; eyebrows: Zuii brow pencil in Taupe; blush: Kjaer Weis Embrace and Sun Touched; highlighter: Kjaer Weis Radiance Highlighter; lips: Kjaer Weis Sweetness.

So, dear jury – hot or not?
