I\u2019ve been churning out all types of body scrubs lately to save me from having to repurchase a tube every two weeks \u2013 that\u2019s how actively I use them. Sometimes it just makes more sense to make your own cosmetics; getting to pick and mix all kinds of lovely scents and ingredients is a nice bonus, and one never gets bored. And as it happens, body scrubs are one of the easiest and fastest DIY products, whose ingredients can be found in every kitchen. I can even reveal that some of these recipes will be featured in my book, which comes out late this fall.<\/p>\n

Throwing together this cooling, purifying, and brightening \u2013 and also wonderfully refreshing \u2013 peppermint and vanilla body scrub makes a for a fun Sunday afternoon activity. If you\u2019ve got clogged pores or impurities in your back, this stuff will clear them out and leave your skin wonderfully soft.<\/p>\n

Peppermint and Vanilla Body Scrub<\/strong><\/p>\n

8 tbsp. sea salt<\/p>\n

2 tbsp. white clay<\/p>\n

6 tbsp. almond oil<\/p>\n

2 tbsp. chopped mint leaves<\/p>\n

1 vanilla bean, seeds from<\/p>\n

10 drops essential peppermint oil<\/p>\n

5 drops essential lemon oil<\/p>\n

(1 tsp. lemon zest)<\/p>\n

Mix all ingredients in a bowl, and spoon the mixture into an air-tight glass jar. If you don\u2019t have white clay, you can leave it out and substitute it with more salt. Olive oil can be substituted for almond oil, and a teaspoon of lemon juice can be used instead of essential lemon oil. The recipe makes approximately 150 ml of body scrub.<\/p>\n
